Reed

There was a bloody, half naked, angry Alpha striding towards him, nostrils flared and red eyes still glowing from the fight. He was eating up the distance between them with frightening speed. There was blood gushing from open cuts on his skin and even as fast as shifters could heal, bleeding out before the wounds mended themselves back together was still a serious possibility. Jax barked a command over his shoulder at the three wolves that came to his aid and they propped the injured one between them as they started a slow trek back to the campsite.

Ignoring the race of his heart at the sight of those dark locks of hair covered in dirt and blood, and the foliage scattered through dark hair on the Alpha’s chest Reed squared his shoulders against the wave of rage coming off of Jax as he finally reached the tree he was hiding behind. His canines were still razor sharp over his plush bottom lip and something inside Reed trembled at the thought of those pointy edges nicking the skin of his neck. It wasn’t the time to think about it but he couldn’t help it. Everything about the Alpha looked beautiful at that moment. He stood rooted to his spot as he watched them being swallowed by the thick trees and he couldn’t settle the need inside him to follow, to make sure Jax was safe. Rationally he knew there would be nothing someone like him could do to help in a situation they just found themselves in. He wasn’t trained, the few sessions he went to served only as a reminder that he wasn’t very strong, and his aim was pitiful at best. He had never seen two wolves fight before. He had no experiences to draw from, and yet, the pull was too strong to deny. He had to make sure Jaxon was okay. So he had taken a few seconds to make sure the pack truly was packing their things as Jaxon ordered, and then booked it after the hunters before anyone could stop him.

“I…I wanted to help,” he said softly, knowing it made absolutely no sense. He chanced a look into Jax’s eyes and convinced himself there was a softness there, underneath that angry, blood red glare.

“And I told you how you could help. I told you to stay inside the
